Thank you for tuning in to the pickleballers next door we're here with Scott Wilson the owner CEO founder of Peak Pickleball. How are you doing? I'm good. How are you Scott? I actually am very good. It's a beautiful day. We're sitting outside. This is nice It is see the mountains that mean better not too hot and what a venue you put you help put together here This is this is nice. Yeah, we're here at the Great Wolf Lodge and we're doing the Sports Expo now This Expo next year is going to be at our facility. We're really excited. Yeah, I like that We get a place in pickleball. It does And we want to have to deal with this wind and so yeah, but it's nice out of here This is a we got to be the presenting sponsor for this event We were glad to get to do that and we love what they're doing here Sandy's done a great job making sure that this and it was way way more booths than she thought Sandy's awesome. What an incredible lady. She is on it. Go go go. Here you are. Here's where you gotta be This is the first year of this it's the second the second, okay, and I think it doubled in size I think I think that's actually twice as many vendors not the worst thing not the worst If we have anything to say about it the next year So our just our upstairs and our place at peak is it's a little over 40,000 square feet Yeah, this place is impressive. We were there yesterday. It's amazing. Are you sure you have enough room for this? Just the upstairs 20,000 they're using 20,000 square feet here. Okay, so we could double it just by coming there So we'll shut down on the Saturday take down the nets except on the center courts We'll keep pickleball going so people can walk around pickleball pickleballers next door. I'll be right there. Yeah, right there We'll be there more than that Probably be there weekly with all your events So so Scott tell us how you got involved with pickleball and how you decided to open up peak Yeah, that's a fun story I Entrepreneur my whole life right love starting things We had a we owned one of the largest snowmobile and ATV rental businesses here in Colorado for a while They're every two thousand set a restaurant Done a lot of things officiated football Won't go into all that a lot of college and anyway, so Just a lot of things. I've got to do a pastor for 32 years We've been very blessed with some of those things so I wasn't looking to do this I was in I was ready. I was done. I was retired. Let's just Watch the sunset yeah, and then I happen to be playing at a place Down in Colorado Springs is a small place, and it was middle was January And I was dry literally driving home for the third night in a row Because I had to play at this place and the only time we could get Was 10 to midnight. Oh my god, and then I was a third night in a row I'm driving on a blizzard in January and for me. I live a monument. That's all I don't It's a long drive. Yeah, right and at midnight and then having to get up in the morning And I'm like this is dumb, so I told my wife. I'm gonna Next day. I said, I'm just gonna go out and find a building warehouse. Oh I'll do the same thing. I'll just put on a court my buddies will play and I'll rent it out And I'd actually seen a place that I thought might work a warehouse that I thought we can be bop in there And I so we called the real estate agent said meet us down It wasn't wasn't long enough wasn't I enough and so he's like oh, I know this other place So he shows us another place. We go up another place, and we get there, and he's like This this would take four courts, but it really wouldn't it just wasn't the right thing right so then He said well, there's more down there. I don't have more time for you today You know he said, but if you want to go look. It's like what you know so my wife was with me So we went down and the next thing I knew I found myself standing in this other building not the one We're now, but I was looking around going man. I could put 18 court My wife was like take me home now So so I called him I took her home and immediately called another buddy of mine, and I said hey Come he'd been my financial advisor for a long time And I said hey come look at some of this stuff with me, so we started looking this same day and by the end of the day I was like Yeah, I'm gonna spend a lot of money. I was kind of where my wife was like yeah, let's But I had to do the proforma. I was like I was so enamored with it I said so my buddy said well, let's do it. He had just retired so we spent the next Almost 60 days in my office at my house almost eight hours a day. He would come over Chat wasn't a thing Believe it or not like a year and a half ago chat was not this what it is At least at least that we could find so we literally did the proforma just Just he and I making calls looking on line whiteboarding whiteboarding doing doing this stuff and the whole goal really was to talk myself out of it And talk yourself right into 24 24 It's beautiful. So yeah, so then we we did the proforma got the end I was like it looks pretty good, and I sent it out to a bunch of buddies and my buddies Everybody I knew that did new businesses said look at this What am I missing tell me what I'm doing wrong? And they all looked at and came back and said you'd be an idiot not to do that and I was like okay But then door after door you know I'm passionate about the Lord Jesus And I just door after door praying through this thing just door after door started opening and just some incredible things happen Our story is is amazing And so but we ended up then it took we started a about I don't know what he would say May 15th is when we started construction in the building. Okay, and we were done They're not being done about October 1st So it really really fast Wow and it was just got the building do the things I didn't know anything I I'd been in construction earlier in my life and ran a construction company for a friend of mine in Dallas So I knew a lot about it, but I was literally there every day 16 18 hours a day No, you don't think about it is It's two acres And I would get home at the end of every day and I'd done 30,000 plus step dogs are barking and I'm like man. I went through three pairs of shoes Wow a lot of walking well what was impressive is we walk in yesterday and the first floor We don't know there's a second floor right you take us for a tour, and I'm impressed I'm like this is beautiful look at all these courts. You've got a dink court. You got a dink wall I mean this this has been some thought went into this the colors are absolutely simulator Golf simulator a new track man simulator takes us upstairs, and I'm like where is there. What is this it was you? No, you only thought it was just that And then it was like the Wow you know so it's double everything There's you know the same things being court upstairs in court downstairs Wall-to-wall upstairs wall-to-wall downstairs we had all those things Seating areas places where people can sit and then let me let me just say with that is it it was one of the things That was in my mind There were a couple things. I I believed I just wanted to do throughout it the words that were in my mind the whole time number one was world-class Right don't come up short do something because I've been in a lot of pickleball places, and I'm not gonna name any yeah But I've been in a lot of them in there loud, and they're not inviting It's just not it doesn't make you want to sit around see I'm gonna chase some rabbits I guess but we all know that the community is the best part of pickleball It's genius and it's inception nobody meant to do it, but it's it's smaller than tennis It brings you up, and if you're not trash-talking you're not playing pickleball And so you got to be up there to do that But you get in these places And you can't hear you can't even tell the score to the other side right call him an idiot for that shot or anything My background in officiating I've been lots of gyms and lots of places and so for me It was a no-brainer and you know it was interesting I don't think I'm this smart. I just I guess now that I'm on air and other people. I think you are that smart I always say I don't think I'm as far as think everybody else might be this dumb, but Don't give myself credit, but the what was coming out at that time Mind you this a year and a half ago is a lot of these companies were coming out with oh You got to have these these plants that you put around your building that absorbs sound so they're creating the plane Literally, this is a thing and then they the sound baffles that in the rafters of places look like you took a Blanket you folded it over and you stapled it at the bottom But they're running this way But there people are selling these things to these indoor places to help solve their problems, and it's not working not working No, and they literally this article that came out was a big article big interview of all these pickleball places around the country was Sound is the is is the thing that nobody has conquered yet right in an indoor facility, and I'm thinking to myself It's a no-brainer. I I mean again. I don't think I'm this smart. I just looked up and went I'd spray the ceiling yeah now Turned out to be a very cost prohibitive thing right it was very expensive to get that sound technology because it isn't just insulation But I was like I'm committed world-class Let's push the industry to be better than it has been right so we sprayed the ceilings, and then I just looked down and went Everywhere, there's not a court. Let's put carpet carpet. Yeah Sound goes like this bounce off the ceiling floor you're going to any warehouse Yeah, we looked at a lot of them It's like oh my you come in here, and your head's gonna explode and most places you go And that's been my experience. I go I play for my two hours I want out because I can't I hear how yelling aggravated And I'm you have to get together in small groups to just talk about what just happened, and you you your head hurts You're walking us around yesterday play it. We're right next to court. We were having a great conversation Yeah, we're talking normal yeah, that's one of the things now Again I'm gonna give credit where credit's due to God because these were ideas that I I had But I don't know if they'd work or not right. Yeah, just what I would do. Yeah, right But how would I solve it and so where I'm sitting here? So let's just spray the ceilings put the car before then we hand built all the baffles on the wall But we wanted texture on the wall so those worked and so we got those on the wall We've got that on the floor, but still didn't know and so my wife Says well world-class facility, let's put so we have furniture everywhere So that's the one thing I noticed. It's not just Come play pickleball and leave. It's a very inviting once you're done playing pickleball. You can relax Chill out you can talk you can watch other games it I love that part of any facility why I really appreciate you seeing that and acknowledging that because that is what we were going For yeah, it's not just play and go you know yeah pay and play even in the even just to finish that other We have the carpet. We have the ceiling we put in the furniture But I put a very high-end sound system in as well, so if you go in there, and it's it's kind of fun I should show you guys this, but you know we were in there No, we were the whole place is playing everybody's playing every court. It's super. You know you would think it'd be super loud We're still talking just like this, but in the background music's playing right We don't high up But if you don't hear it unless you want to hear it Yeah, it wasn't it wasn't blaring in one part, but if I turn that off It's amazing how it changes the whole atmosphere. I believe it when it's in there It feels warm, and you turn that off and all sudden. It's just dry kind of quiet pickleball It's not loud, but it's still just that It's You'll see people kind of dancing between stuff, and it's not but it's not loud No, but if you want to hear it you can so to go back to what you said Greg That was what we were after yeah, and so one of the things when I knew That we had accomplished what we were after Was when you would ask any of my regular members if you ask any of my regular members What do you like most about peak and the answer is oh the people? Yeah, right, oh, and the place is nice, too Well, you're standing in what's been called the Taj Mahal a pickleball, right? Yeah, and that furniture looks Unbelievably inviting and I want to actually sit in the stuff. He may not leave My pulling a hammock, but I saw that you have like a little bar beer ball garden or whatever right there That's coming soon. Yeah, so shout out to whistle pig. I'm brewing here. They actually are gonna run that for us really cool They've already got a liquor license, but you have to have one specific that place right they've applied for all that so they should get that cleared up All the stuff is in there's waiting on the state has to have their meetings, and it's it's it's a slow process I'm grateful for the process, but when you're when you're waiting on it So when they get it Which will be next month we'll open that up. They also brought on board and so that's a full bar You'll be able to come in there. We put in the TV. So it's full sports. Oh, yeah Yeah, it's not all season. Oh, yeah, you know and sit and have a beer place a pickleball come back watch the game Go back. It's funny You'll see them sitting up there with their computers like what are you doing? I'm working They're coming in and they're doing work, and then they're going out and playing pickleball coming back doing work We see a lot of that. I think I love that. I love that I think someone else you didn't mention was the private court, which was really incredible. I think that was very smart There's a lot of people that start pick a ball that are embarrassed. They they don't want to feel like I don't But I think that's so nice that you can bring in corporate events you can have birthday parties You can but I think that's for people that are learning your trainers We actually walked through there where they were having a training You know your trainers we have Ali and Nick two of the coaches that we met up in Steamboat Yep, I look forward to coming back and setting up a time with her and playing I'm telling you so Nick is my head pro and our Calendar guy he does all of our scheduling schedule And I love Nick a guy such a good guy mm-hmm and not only that he was a golf pro for like oh Really, that's crazy. That's how this simulator It's a track man now, it's not it's the serious the gold standard Yeah, so you come in and you can play around a golf on that you get lessons He can he's he can get you into you know club fittings Help you map your bag all that we can do all that so Wait wait wait there's even more this is going so he takes us out through the back This is awesome because you can pull he has a warehouse where you can open up load all you if you have a big tournament Or any kind of situation we were retail stores We have loading down loading docks and bodies, but then he opens the door There's a personal trainer there training somebody in a friend of Jim. Oh wow we have a weight room It's not necessarily open to the public it was it's it's for my family and for our staff But we also have Logan Scott who is an exercise therapist And so we use her to help our members or whoever needs it. She can bring people in she works She works on them in there get them back into the sport, so we're excited about having Logan in there So she's she's filled it up. We can't even get in and lift weights It's nice to this is really nice, and so are you gonna offer pickleball fitness classes you know I'm really We that's a great question Greg Let's jump back to Allie for just okay, she's a dynamo bombshell She hit the ball harder than any man And she's funny is all good. Oh She's gonna be starting full-time with us here soon. She gets every time she hits me something I look at see if there's a hole in my paddle if it cracked But she but they are a great team to have in there so but it's interesting you mentioned that So we started doing something and we want to do more of it. We're just you know we're ten months in so we're learning things We're gaining ground, but we've been doing this thing High endurance pickleball right where people can sign up, and it's really aerobic We put them on the courts with Nick and Allie, and they just You come in for two hours, and you're gonna hit a thousand balls You know two thousand balls, but you're gonna be running while you do it They're gonna show you the the thing that you're doing you're gonna be working on this shot that shot But every time you miss it you're out says this person's in okay get to that court now You're doing this and just aerobic pickleball while you're learning right hit shots While you're under duress, which is what you want to do when you get late in the game definitely you're tired And you're you know you're so you're getting that exercise built up So we've been doing some of that and they lead that and then going back to the private court. That's been just awesome Because you can you can take somebody in there There's a lot of people that have come to me and said I wouldn't have learned to play pickleball if you didn't have that Because I didn't want people to see me learning because I feel so awkward, but now they're out playing with other people Yeah, and we also can use it for VIPs We have people to come in we put them in there so people aren't sitting there. I've gone time. Yeah, there's just doors There's no doors here Those who are those guys So and then there's another door that's on the main floor all right Why is on the second I'm always confused what floor I was on so you walk in on the second That's the second floor. That's right coming upstairs you coming upstairs, and then there's the other one there What do you they work in the back there the it's on the second floor is there medical? Oh? Oh yeah rally back probably back? This just keeps going. Yeah, shout out to those guys Cam and and Judy so they were weaver so in our building We want our we want to create more than just come here and play here, right? Yeah, this is where you can get healthy get back in the game because so many people get hurt They pull something they do something then they stay away Because you know they can't play and you're normally you're in another pickleball facility where it's loud You can't talk to him anyway, and so what we see is rally back came in Literally, it's the idea of rally rally back rally back into the game You know that makes sense and so they do stem wave if you haven't heard that look it up, but it's a it's a German technology sound Using sound waves to help you. I've I'm a skeptic. I'm a full-on Right I don't believe a lot of this stuff that people you know. I'm just a skeptic They've been worked on me. I tore my rotator cuff and then just the other day I hyperextended my left foot, and I was like I hate guys getting old stuff stinks Yeah, I went over there. They hit me for three days on it. I'm where I know I wouldn't have gotten over it three days I was going in there She kept working on my foot for about 30 half minute 30 minutes a day, and I was back, and I was like okay You're not a skeptic anymore It works, but they also have a red light therapy bed in there where you can go in so The psoriasis and all that stuff it helps with all that so they do sessions in that you can go in there and lay in There and get healed right now. Here's a cool thing. I just talked to a guy here Relax, and I think I think this is gonna happen. They've got these saunas. Did you see the saunas? Yes, oh, yeah, yeah a little cube right yeah, so the guys like I just took him down and showed him the place He's like can we just put two of these in your place, and so I want to put them over there by the rally back Oh, yeah, and I said you know what I want to do. I sat in it for 10 minutes. It is infrared therapy It's an infrared sauna. You said it, but it's just a little cube Just give me a turn it on put a little timer on and your head sticks out But but I want to put two of them over there So you but what I saw in it is that a lot of us, and I'm looking I'm calling you guys I know you don't stretch before you play you walk right on the court start it Not none of us do, but if you're gonna go sit 10 minutes in that thing Ready to go you want to stretch a little bit because you feel like your muscles That's how I used to warm up when I went to the gym all the time I would go into the infrared sauna, and then I'd go do a little stretching and hit the gym right yeah Yeah, so I want to offer that but I want to put it over there by those guys So the people are there, and they're talking and here's another you know here's another thing we can do for you We want to do for you here at peak Yeah, is we we want to keep you from getting hurt come over get in these things get them afterwards They're super easy to clean. It's just a cube. It's just a it holds the heat in and But then you can also if you're hurting these guys can talk to you set up a session get on the red light bed Or you can get the stem wave or you can go work with Logan, and then we also have together one That's it's together, and then it's W.o in one Christy is It's fabulous. She works with a lot of our we have to her she does a lot of stuff for our senior adults, right? helping them Get back from where they're bedridden and where they get the place where it's just like I can't I can't do anything more She's helping people get back from those kinds of things where they're playing pickleball That's amazing Literally people that couldn't hold a paddle two months ago or now on the court starting to hit balls, and that's great She's amazing so we Beat pickleball is more than pickleball. Oh my god way more way more. I mean this this could be a two-hour podcast Recovery oh my a recovery we haven't even got into This is what you've done for other communities as far as some of the things that's coming up Wheelchair accessible for the core nonprofit you have the he has an elevator there in the end That's I mean he's thought of everything. I mean there's not everything we're still coming up But there was a I mean the thought that you've put into this is incredible. It's a place. That's gorgeous Mike I appreciate you saying we were I want to go. I can't wait to get over there and play so USA pickleball Said openly is quoted saying it and several of her Organizations have come in and said this is the nicest place We've ever seen we've been all they said we've been to every place around that we can think of and there's nothing like this You're we're a unicorn and we wanted to be right we go back to the world class Because I wanted I wanted not a pickleball place. We wanted a club. Yeah It's definitely that it's definitely that and you want to stay and you want to hang I remember as a kid going with my mom To the health club, right and you know, they have their juice bars and the child care and everything I'm not saying anything about that, but I get the same feel of like hang out, you know Play hang out. Have a do other stuff. Have a beer have some pizza So I'm gonna lie I had some coffee Absolutely good because I went to breakfast this morning and the coffee the food was outstanding the coffee was water. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, no, we we we want good coffee. We want those types of things to be there So what you're talking about Mike is it is one of those things that that I am passionate about, right? My wife and I are both just very from the beginning This was never we didn't look at this. Like we're gonna make a lot of money Let's build let's do franchises and figure it all this, you know We'll do more but we want our DNA to be in it I don't think big pickleball could be what it is. And I don't say this arrogantly. Please don't hear it that way It's just who I am in my heart Yeah And that's who we want to be in the what we want our staff to be it's we want to care about people when people Feel like they got cared for so one of the things that we do we're a world-class facility. Yeah, I Love I love it when people say this the Taj Mahal Right and and because that's what we were going for but at the same time we could do that in many places do In other sports or athletics or whatever that because you're that now you act like that you become an elitist There you go. There you go, and you start charging way too much and you make it For only those that can afford it, right? Right. And so our heart was no from the very beginning We we are we are a world-class facility Was no from the very beginning We have a nonprofit Exchange ministries and it partners with us and runs alongside of us. And so what we do is we say look Single moms single dads couples that work hard. It's just not your budget Veterans seniors underprivileged youth and families. All we got to do is know about them right come in We're gonna make sure that anybody and everybody gets to play pickleball We're not gonna be that place that says oh, you don't have it can't be here right now We believe the ones that that have it should pay right if you got it Help us by paying and I've got some people that whine about that. I'm saying like just cheap, right? You're not but how am I gonna have a single mom come in there raising a couple kids or whatever? She comes in and I say here's my price, but she's killing herself She's just like a pay a little pickleball and I'm gonna say no Yeah And we're not gonna do that to our veterans so the veterans came to us and they Said right if we open They said hey This other place we were playing kicked us out and because our grant ran out and they didn't they didn't have any That's we couldn't pay for it. And they said what would what could we do here? And I looked at him. I said, well, what do you need? They said well we need seven courts Every Wednesday, right? I said, all right. Come on. Do you have that? Actually have eight So they so I said I said well, come on and he said well no What's it gonna cost and I looked at him and I was so glad I could say these words I was able to say no, I just said come on. We'll take care of it. That's awesome We we're gonna get this taken care of right? I got it. I got a it's a and it's grown now They're doing 12 and then we're doing it on Sunday. So I got a $50,000 problem that to cover the time on Anybody out there that wants to help right? But we want Up my last penny my last breath my wife and I we're gonna make that happen. We're we're not gonna say no. I mean unfortunately About four weeks ago. We have one of our guys that played there. He left Our place I'm driving home from play and had a medical something that occurred in his vehicle and went off the road was killed Man broke her heart But we the the ability to go downstairs and we we did this memorial for him and had all the wheel He was a wheelchair guy had all the wheelchair people We had a hundred vets in there playing and honor him final salute, and I'm looking at all that going and his wife said The only he never smiled the only time he smiled he had two two teenage daughters in his 40s Said the only smiled when he left pickle when he came home to pickleball and all he looked forward to was being able to be Pickleball again next week That just tears your heart out So I'm sitting there going. Yeah, we're we're gonna figure this out. So we have some ways We talking to you guys. Yeah. Yeah, we'll get this out there and help you guys But we're starting what we're calling the hundred thousand dollar club, right? Yeah, and What for for our exchange ministries to raise money for all of this to happen Because we're I also told you guys that one of the things we'll talk about is is that we're wheelchair People don't have their own tournament. Nobody's ever done a wheelchair only it's always you're an attachment to something else And I just found that out and I said, well that ends right we're done with that So we're gonna host a wheelchair only tournament this next week. This is so exciting I want to I want to be there. I want to be there. I've never seen it I think I've seen it played once. Yeah, no, it's and you can do the hybrid Yeah, we did the hybrid we're gonna combine it make it a pro-am So all of those dollars that we raise make those things possible. We're looking for a sponsor Oh, yeah, somebody wants because here's the other deal you go to an able-bodied tournament, right? And they play they pay the same money, but they don't get a shot at the purse. No, right? Why don't they pay why not? We are looking for a sponsor somebody that wants to step up and say hey, we'll put in our company our business We'll say $50,000. We'll make the purse You'll be our title sponsor you come in and we'll make sure that not only do they win, but they walk away With some money. Yeah that they that they get to go. Hey, we're champions too. Yeah, we're pros. We're getting paid We're playing and on top of that I showed you oh, yes. Yeah together. I want one of these. Okay I Saw a wheelchair over here had tracks. Is that what we're talking about? No, but we did this, you know, we have a tournament for able-bodied so we did this last year So I come out of a college football officiating background NFL the shading background where you win The winners get these big these rings fans, right and you if you're the national championships, you know, you get that So I looked around I said, has anybody ever done this? It's like no, it's okay. We're gonna be the first So this last year we held the first Golden Ring tournament. Yeah, I had a bunch of people we had a purse We had a $25,000 purse. We're gonna do it again this year. We're not the purse and this is for the wheelchair. No This is okay But what I did was instead of you get for bronze and silvery we've made a nice metal you get a bronze medal You get a silver medal, but for if you win you get that you get the golden Amazing I'd have it on every time. Hey guys, you ready to play? Yeah, so what we noticed was everybody you take their medals home to hang them up But they keep those golden rings in their bags, yeah, they wave them in people's face they're looking some of them are like seven years I'm Tom Brady Right, so that went really well So I was telling you guys is I'm gonna do I want to do the same thing for this wheelchair They come they win they take the money home. They take home the golden rings. Yes, it becomes the world championships of Wheelchair pickleball. Okay, imagine rolling around there. Just I mean what what a feeling but here's the key Here's why we need people to give this is why we're starting the hundred thousand dollar club And we're looking for these sponsors is because you never think about what it takes for these people to travel Oh, yeah, and they blew me away I was like I'm such an idiot because they start explaining they pay the same money to come to these tournaments But for them to travel there they still have to pay the two three hundred dollar entry fee They have to get a hotel just like anybody else They have to have an entourage that have at least one other person travel because they got two wheelchairs They got to bring their sports chair their normal chair. Yeah, all the other stuff that comes along. They gotta get two tickets They gotta have two rooms unless it's a spouse or family member And so their cost and then you go to these most of these tournaments are double elimination to you're out Yeah, 30 minutes for all of that. Yeah, and and and just listening to these people and hearing Them one of them two of them give up hug me and said thank you for letting us play on the center court I'm like, I don't know what that means. Yeah, they're like no. No we go to these tournaments Very rarely if ever get to play on the center court You're kidding. So here's the kicker. We're I'm like it's done. It's happening regardless, but I said this tournament No entry fee. All you got to do is get here and we're gonna get the sponsors to come out So we're starting the hundred thousand dollar club pretty pretty easy to get it You'll see it on our website you're coming up very quickly You'll be able to click you donate on donate a thousand dollars, so you're not you're not a hundred thousand dollars We were looking for it a hundred people to give a thousand dollars. We'll raise a hundred thousand dollars You'll get a shirt that says you're a member of the hundred thousand dollar club And then we also get to come to our gala's that we're gonna have at different We're gonna have one at the Hotel Polaris Because they're one of our big champion partners right hotel and so we we want to honor that but if you give $2,500 or more you want to be a hero sponsor a hero in that We're saying we're gonna have a hero's wall in our building for loved ones that don't have to be necessarily military But if you wanted to say hey I've got a loved one and I want to honor them by by Being in the pickleball place putting on the hero give $2,500 or more we'll put in in memory of and their name will be on that hero board You'll be a hero and then I think we could raise this money To because I want it to be where Again, you you go buy a pickleball paddle and you get shoes and you get a shirt and you get shorts You're ready. Let's play. That's pickleball is so easy to go. Yeah, unless you're in a wheelchair now You gotta have a $7,000 wheelchair. Yeah. Yeah. What do you do then? So, how do we fix that? Right? So I know that Other places provide wheelchairs that people can use when they're there, but we want to provide sports wheelchairs We want to have a variety of them, but not only that if when we find people that are good at this game You know, they have to get sponsors like anybody else paddles and all that How about how about Pete pickleball exchange ministries and a bunch of us get together and we sponsor? Those wheelchair players by getting them the chair. You love it. I'm telling you a couple hours night stores here with you. We're right here We're one of your sponsors. You are we're one of your farm. We'll be one of your first sponsors. Yeah Yeah, we're here where you got you got your credit card with you I already took it out of your purse Especially when you get the I mean I've never reached in a person. I'm all the way up to my shoulder Did you get the paddle out of there So, yeah, we are we're 100% behind you so we're so why don't you tell people the website that they can go to for this Okay, so here's what you want to do. You want to go to it? So exchange ministries is our nonprofit runs alongside us now exchange ministries isn't just for pickleball We'll help anybody right? We will help anybody We want people to stay healthy and active. That's why we're here at this Expo That's why we're the title sponsor of this presenting sponsor of this Expo because we really believe in the health and wellness of the people Right get out there exercise. I tell people all the time Die old but make a pretty corpse, right? Be 96 and look like you're 70, but listen, how do we help people do that? So So change ministries is how how we make this possible through our nonprofit to help people stay young get healthy get get in get get access to The the the rally back stuff where they can get healthy about anything. We want to help with right? We want people to play and live healthy lives, but primarily with pickleball because that's what we're doing. You'll get a shirt that says you're a hero in the hundred thousand dollar club So we were talking about you know Just how to give and how to support these things and the heroes wall Of being able to give and we live in a veterans community But it doesn't have to be if your hero was your mentor if your hero Was your dad you want to give twenty five hundred dollars or more to put their name up there because you love pickleball They love pickleball We'll put up there because we want that heroes wall to speak out to people to say hey this is this is something special that our club does to shout out to those that that Made ways for us to play pickleball our veterans are our first responders who are first responders Who make it possible for us to be in there? Right because they're sacrificing so we want to do that. So hang in there with us. We're our web our website just I think it'll be up this next week because we revamped the whole thing. Yeah third basement million torture So what a guy what am I good guys, right? I find out he threw a paddle and it knocked all by one of my big 85 inch TVs. Oh like a foot 5-8 sheetrock right went right through it, right? So I come in I'm like Okay, right He's got he's a good dude Dennis Mason. He's a good dude Comes he's got his hat in his hand and he's like man. I'm I'm sorry I'm better than that, you know, he's saying all the right things and I'm like dude, but I can't let you slide I can't have I gotta pay for that. I can't let you slide and if I let you slide I got everybody slide So I said, I've got it. Let me think about it, but it's gonna cost you his head, you know, his head's down He's what he didn't know is in the meantime. I instructed my guys to go out I gave it looks yellow just like this thing right here Yeah, bright yellow shirt and in two weeks later. I came back and I said, okay Dennis come in I've decided what it's gonna be and He's really Like whatever takes it comes in I hold it the sign it's got his face And it says I'm a paddle thrower Love it Says on the back, you know help me. I'm a father. I have a problem. You have to wear this shirt for two weeks He's like, I'll do it I'll do it so much better and I thought you were gonna make me do You should frame it the walls and Have them sign it No, cuz everybody's gonna I want to make I Go to my place we have a world-class place world-class people and so I hear people yell a four-letter word, right? and I've taught everybody in there when you Come on, it's not okay because it's a family place We got people in here, but you're better than that But if I you know, we always just say you hear one you go find a five-letter word Just walk by go find a five-letter word and so now all of my you know A lot of my people that play there. They they they know they'll if they say blank then they'll go Find a five-letter word. I know they'll say that's awesome. They'll holler over to another court to somebody that's new in the building They'll say something you have three people holler. Hey, find a five-letter word. That's hilarious Getting that culture. Yeah, we want to have fun with Cuz cuz people come in I got I get one guy Who I played with even the guy could crush the ball and he kept crushing it compression It's a good player and I was like dude And I got to a place where I felt like I wasn't gonna play with you know It's kind of like gonna avoid playing with this guy Cuz it's just like no fun to play with because I guess one day I You know, I was hearing this from other people And so I put him aside and I said hey, I said let's play this game. I said, but let's play like this I said you're always crushing the ball. He doesn't I got it. I got to hit it hard. I said why? I'm his head and he said Said I just recently been in the military. He came back soon as I came back. I lost my wife to cancer And then he told me something about what's going on with his kids and he said I Come here to hit things hard I Was tears Wow. I was like, wow, let's let's go. Let's go body bag Let's do it. I mean Stand here, right? And so now I just go out and I'll say hey when you show up come play with me We'll hit a bunch of hard balls. Then. Why don't you then go play? To play real people Therapy for him, right? That's good. And nobody else knows that I've been told anybody else that But you're just like holy cow, we all have a story in that court. It's so funny. We all have a story You don't know some simple some are complex, but everybody has a story. I'm just always to be happy and you know I tell people when I go on that court I get to leave the world for two hours three or as many hours I can play But it's it's it's it's therapy. It is therapy. It honestly is but you got to take it as therapy You angry people out there. You got to take it as there I tell people there's all time whenever I say when right at the beginning of every tournament I say I want you to play hard. I want you to play fast. I want you to play within the rules Okay, that's how we're gonna play today. I want you to be kind But in the end remember when you're getting out of hand and you're getting angry and everything this game was named after a dog All right Not that important name after a dog It's not that important right? Everybody laughs. That's that's the thing. We got to remember It's it's it's not that important. There are people out there that they're There's the struggling and you're getting to play pickleball. Oh, yeah We you live in the greatest country in the world, right you live in their best life no matter what you're going through It's better than 90% of the world. Absolutely Lots of opportunity here. Yeah, so we give life. Yes. That's what peak pickleball is like We want to give life and we want people in there to be life givers We love that. We love it. We have a bunch of episodes. I with you I mean that we're gonna be spending some time gonna be bucks.
