Episode Transcript

Thank you for joining in. I'm Mike. I'm Susanna. We're the Pickleballers Next Door. Since 1985, International Monetary Systems has helped tens of thousands of businesses save cash, increase sales, and attract new customers. Sure, trade is not for every business. It's just for the businesses that need to increase revenue. Increase your sales through the IMS Barter Network. Visit imsbarter.com to learn how. Hi, Mike. How are you? Good morning. Aloha. Aloha to you. How are you doing out there? Enjoying a nice, what, seven days out there or what? Talk to me. We've been out here nine days, and we kick-picked one of the times to the worst weather they've had in 20 years, which is fine. It's still gorgeous and beautiful. We're at Kona Island, the big island. Came here for me and my wife's anniversary and also to do some pickleballing. Well, as you know, everything in Hawaii is built outside. So if you have torrential rains, pickleball is not existing. And this is where they were literally having flash floods. We had volcanoes going, erupting, and that were going 1,000 feet in the air. Like, it was pretty crazy here. Yeah, sounds like it. But, you know, it's so beautiful. I mean, I couldn't be with my beautiful wife and at a beautiful place. If you've been to Hawaii, you don't have to do anything. They call it island time. It takes forever to get anywhere. I mean, there is one road that we found that was 55 miles an hour, but most everything is 35 and 45 miles an hour. And people drive very, very slow. There's no accidents because nobody's in a hurry here. Is that Hawaii time, I guess, huh? Yeah. Yeah, we also are four hours different from our Colorado time. That's been a little rough, too, even calling you, because just like now, it's only 7 o'clock here, and it's already almost noon where you are. Yeah, 11 o'clock. Yeah, it's 11 o'clock. So you haven't been calling me, but I haven't called you either because I didn't want to be late. No, it's been nice. No, it's been super nice. I came here for a couple different reasons, too. Also, a company that is called IMS, International Monetary Systems. It's a trading company that I've been involved with for about probably the last 15 years or more. It's pretty neat. It's in the old day of trading, like in the old day when you'd trade your partner. If you needed some bread and you had a bread store and you needed some carpentry done, you would trade for that work instead of dollars and cents. You would trade for theβ€”it's monetized, but it's not with actual dollars and cents. So kind of a barter system, right? It's exactly what it is. It's a barter system. I think the neat part that they've done with it that I've done over the years is the neat people I've met in business that need my services and they have a service, and so I've got to connect to a lot of businesses. But the neat part over the last few years that I started to use a lot is they have travel, and the travel is super awesome. You can go anywhere in the world. I mean, if you look up the IMS or the International Monetary Systems, you'll find them. And basically, I have traded over the years sums amounts for flooring. I owned a flooring company for 40 years, and I would just put that money away. Well, even this trip today, we actuallyβ€”I talked to them and said, hey, I'm going to come out here and I'd like toβ€”you know, we've got a pickleball podcast, and I'd like to come out and, you know, try some of your hotels here in Hawaii. So we actually didn't stay at a hotel. We're actually staying at a private residence that's an IMS partner of theirs, which has aβ€”we're in a beautiful home. Oh, my gosh, gorgeous. Gorgeous home. We see the ocean every day. There's a swimming pool. I mean, it's just luxury. It's a lot. Me and my wife like the quietness, but then you also have, like, you can go on toβ€”they work with timeshares and other people that have condos. So you can pick what you want to do. We chose the route of we like to come to a home every day and night and have a place where we can rest our head and just have our own privacy. But overall, gorgeous, beautiful. So I reallyβ€”you guys, a shout-out to IMS. I mean, it's neverβ€”we've done several trips with them, and this isβ€”you know, we're going to be doing several more with them. We're pickleball. We're also going to set up a pickleball bartering with IMS. Wouldn't that be nice? Yeah, that'd be awesome. Yeah, so we can actuallyβ€”we'll be hearing more about this, and we're hoping we'll become partners in trade and with our pickleball. So long story short, that was the reason I'm here, and then also 27 years with my beautiful wife. Our anniversary is this next week, and we decided to get out. We just picked theβ€”it's the chance you take here. This is theirβ€”end of their winter, and we just hit aβ€”we got the end of their winter. So it wasβ€”it's been a little rough. I mean, a lot of rain. I mean, rainβ€”we had one day that was 100-mile-an-hour winds, which was blowing trees over, stuff off the house. I mean, it wasβ€”it was prettyβ€”it was a little scary. You know, we're used to our little snowstorms in Colorado, but when you come into one of these tropical storms, it's a little intimidating. Especially if you're not in your own home. You don't know all the things around you. Yeah, and we had some stuff planned to go see. The whales are here right now, and the ocean has just been chaotic out here. We were going to go swim with the Montereys, and none of that could happen. And you don't want to be out. They say out here if the water's brown, don't go in. You know, there are a lot of sharks and stuff out here. Is it brown, then? Are you saying it's brown? It stirs up because of the storm, so your bottom stirs up. Soβ€”but beautiful. When I show you the pictures, it's gorgeous. Water breaking on the walls. I mean, justβ€”the weird part, too, is it's not cold. So you can stand in the rain. You're not going to be cold. It's 75 degrees in the rain, so you're not freezing or cold. It's very nice. It's just the waters, the currents and things that happen in the ocean, it's not something you want to do. But I know you guys didn't come to hear about my fabulous trip. Oh, sure they did. We're just jealous is what it is. It is awesome. I mean, it's one of these places that, you know, you want to go. You want to experience Hawaii. We've been to a couple of the different islands, and this is the big island. We've never been here. Just gorgeous, peaceful. I mean, my wife and me, she loves flowers, and so if you love flowers, there are flowers everywhere. Gorgeous, like the weirdestβ€” Oh, beautiful, huh? β€”like geckos and flowers and weirdest plants you've ever seen in your life because it's tropical, you know, so you get some really crazy plants. But anyway, back to pickleball. Yeah, so what did you find when you were out there? I know you didn't have muchβ€” Wellβ€” β€”to start because of the weather, but what did you find? Well, I went to the first place I went to was called Kona Pickleball Hawaii. Okay. Hawaii. It's a rec center, so that wasβ€”it was hard to find, actually. Because of the rains, this place was more like a rec center. They had painted lines out. They had about six courts and painted lines, but they had to put the nets up. So these weren'tβ€”you know, these weren'tβ€”they were fun nets. This is a very popular place. It's right by a car wash and by the beach, and a lot of people play pickleball there. But with the rain, nobody can play pickleball. So that day went away, and then I went to another place called the Kahunaβ€” or actually the Holuta Rec and Paddle Center. And a lot of the pickleball out here is still with a lot of the resorts. So this was a resort, and it had probably 20 courts. But, again, the weather, the nets were blown over. Now they have solid nets here. Very nice. You can tell it's a very nice place. This is a resort. But it's open to the public, too. So the nice part, if you get out here, you can still come play pickleball there. You just have to pay the resort fee to play there. But when, again, I went, there was noβ€”it's been raining. It's been raining every day. Actually, right now is the first day that I have, and it looks like it's going to rain again here shortly. But it's our last day here in Hawaii. But you know what? I still willβ€”even though I didn't get to play some good pickleball and meet some pickleball people, it's a beautiful place. We're going to try to come back here maybe in November, and hopefully you can come with us at that time, and we can do some pickleball here. Are you going to, like, hide me in your suitcase there? Maybe. Yeah, no, that sounds fun. It would be great to go there. Well, with IMS, we can tradeβ€”what's neat is we can build up money and trade people for their home or a resort. We can stay at a resort, and the fee, you know, it's nice. You know what the nice part is? You know how you have to save up for a trip, and it's so expensive, especially in Hawaii. Hawaii is not the cheapest place you can go. But you can save up your money, your trade money, and you can use all that for trade. Like, the lady that we rented the house for was 100% trade. You do have to pay the taxes. There is a little bit of cash that you have to put out. And also you have to pay your own airfare. I don't have any trades with the big airlines or anything like that. But the only good thing about coming to Hawaii, the hotel is the largest part of the whole of the state. Definitely. If you've done your research, it's super crazy. I mean, even an ugly hotel can be $400 a night here. Yeah. So, you know, so anyway, long story short, you guys will have to check it out. Please go check out the International Monetary Systems, IMS. They're awesome people, been doing it a long time. And they've been, it says 1985, so they've been around for a long time. They've been a long time, yeah. It's been a long time. And they're all over, they're in every state almost. There's a directory that shows all the different places they are. But anyway, and then, so yesterday, I actually went to swim with the dolphins at the Hilton. Is that why, Kiloa? Kiloa. Their names, U, very difficult. Every road, it's crazy. But it was, that's a very beautiful place. Now, this is a solid resort place. I mean, there are resorts all around here, right on the ocean. And they have a championship court with a tennis court, which I've never seen this. This was neat, is they have a court that is, they use this as a tennis court, so if they want to have a championship court, they could do either one. And they just built the lines inside the tennis court. Very neat. So we did see a few people playing yesterday for a second. Again, here comes the weather. So, and they have six regular courts there that you can play. Now, a lot of these, now these courts you have to, you probably can buy a day pass, but most of these courts you're going to, you have to stay at the resorts. Because there's only six courts, but it looks like. Yeah, there's only six courts, large place. It has a stadium court with 400 spectator seats. Did you see that? Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah, I seen, that's the one we've seen yesterday. I don't know how they fit 400 people, but to whatever, you know, it fits a lot of people. You can tell it's one of those like stacked sides that you sit on the sides or whatever. Yeah. But I can see that being a lot of fun. And Isaiah used the pictures of the places that, a couple of the places that we went to. I'm just sad I didn't get to play. You know, I mean, it was really sad. But is it helping with your knee though? You've been having problems with your knee. Yeah, you know what, my knee and my feet are getting a lot better. So, yeah, I probably needed to, I did twist my knee before for about a month ago. So I've been kind of hobbling around. So I'm moving way better. So it's all good, you know. But here there are more, there's another place. And I didn't get to this place because the volcano got closed down. Somebody actually, scary part is somebody actually passed away, got too close to it. And you can use your imagination what happened there. Oh, wow. Pretty crazy. Yeah. So they closed it down. So somebody from the island or a tourist? No, a tourist. No, a tourist got too close. I mean, it is so hot. I mean, so we were, there's another place called Hawaii Pickleball Addicts Lodging. And I really wanted to go check that out because they specifically made it for pickleball, that people want to stay and play pickleball. So here on the island, it is growing crazy. Like pickleball is a big thing here. The other island over, Honolulu, they actually have one of the first indoor courts. There is an indoor court on the other island. And they have some, a bunch of outside courts too. So, but they have, and it's a matter of time before they have indoor facilities here. Especially with the rain, right? Oh, yeah. I mean, this is a rarity. Like we've talked to a lot of the people here and they're like, this is nuts. I mean, it's so tropical here right now. Like it feels like you're, the humidity is off the chart. Like it's crazy here. Like you are just sweating, standing. But, you know, it's so beautiful. I mean, if you get to come here just to enjoy and stay here and play pickleball, but also all the food. Oh, good food. I mean, we ate at a place called Lava. Very, very good. My wife loves fish. I love fish too, but she loves fish. Very good. Another place called Magic. Really, really neat. Probably one of the neatest breakfast places that we went to was called it was called Coffee Shack. And it's just like it says, it's a little coffee shack on the side of the mountain, but the most beautiful views of the ocean while you have your breakfast. And this place is crazy. Like it is you, it's a 40 minute to an hour wait, and you'll see why. I mean, it's, it's incredible. Coffee was great. Breakfast was incredible. I guess also when you go there, all these geckos come up when it's nice. We didn't see them at this time. And you feed them your jelly. And these geckos just go crazy. They're all over the place. We've, we actually experienced a bunch of geckos where we are. And they're just like, they're like little pets. Like they come right up to you. They're not scared of you. Did you pet them? I never, no. Because I find the one that's poisonous. Yeah. The one that will cramp onto my finger and I'll be in the hospital. We'd like that on a video, please. Yeah, that would be a good video for my wife. That would make her happy. But, uh, no, it's, it's incredible. I mean, uh, I wish I would've got to play pickleball, but we're coming back. I mean, definitely where we want to come back and, uh, you can tour them. They have jumper planes that you can bounce to the deer and they have little shuttle buses or, uh, boats that will take you. I just, it's not something you want to do when the weather is bad. Uh, the ocean becomes ugly, you know, instead of beauty, it'll eat you. And okay. So talk to me. You were telling me about frogs. About what? Frogs. Oh, frogs. Tell me about the frogs. Oh my gosh. So when we got here at night, uh, at nighttime, it gets, it gets, you know, it starts to get a little dark and you start, I thought they were birds. We thought they were like nighttime birds, which never seen a nighttime bird. Well, we find out they're called, uh, cokies and they are like as big as a quarter, which we still have not seen one. We have looked and looked, but you can talk to them. I literally was like seeing back and forth with them, like their little chirp, you know, it's like, I know it wasn't like that was the bird. Sorry. But it makes this it for this little animal. It is the loudest noise you've ever heard in your life. Cokie. Yeah. Cokie. Cokie. It's that's why they call them. It makes a cokie noise, but it is so loud. But at night when you go to bed, they're all over. So it puts you like to sleep. It's like one of those things you'd buy for your bedside, you know, little, uh, voice or noise maker. These things are incredible. I, I do have, uh, I did with my wife, uh, actually, uh, voiced, um, you know, so you could hear them. And, um, but these are, they create, they're everywhere, but they will just start up. And then once they start talking to each other, it's like crazy. And they're only a quarter big and how they get this noise out of them is nuts. Like, I don't even know how they could get that loud. It's loud. Like I, she looked it up. It was something. It's a mating call. And, uh, maybe that's what I was attracted to. They were trying to get me outside. Attack Mike. Mike. Yeah. Jump on him. Um, little core size frogs all over me, but I, you can't find them. I mean, they are, uh, elusive. You can not find them. I looked everywhere. I have got right up to their noise. Nothing, nothing. It's wild. Do you know what color they are? I know you didn't say. I don't know. If you look at them, yeah, we looked them up. They're just like, no, they're just like little brown frogs. So they will climb up in the trees and stuff. Uh, but they just make this crazy noise. So if you look them up, it's, uh, it's quite, quite crazy. And then the birds here. Oh, wait. No, no. The crazy part that you'll be driving. And all of a sudden there's all these goats everywhere. Side of the road, baby goats, big goats, little goats. Goats everywhere. Like it's wild. Like they just run here on the island wild and it's crazy. So it's just a, you know, for me, we're, we're the crazy tourists. Right. Pull over goats. You know, we're out there jumping out. Lucky we didn't get rammed or something, but. Did you ride one? No. They don't look too nice. We have some pictures. They got some pretty big horns. Some of them. Um, and then the other crazy part of chickens. Like chickens everywhere. And out here right now, they're having their babies. So they'll just see a chicken with like 20 babies running around. They'll be right in a mall and a gas station. It's so wild. It's like the weirdest thing you see. And the weirdest thing that we've seen is we thought, I thought it was a squirrel, but I know they don't have squirrels here. They have mongooses here. Little mongooses that are everywhere. And, uh, I finally did get eye to eye with one, which was pretty funny. Cause I thought I was going to be funny and like, I'm big and it's little. And that thing did not care. It looked at me like, come on out. Let's see if you'd like to have a bite. And, uh, it finally ran off, but we started seeing them all over. Like they're just around like this wild. They look like meerkats. Don't they? That's what they look like. They look like a squirrel. That would have been really funny to see when on you there, Mike. Yeah, I know. Would not be another good animal to see. And then we're at our place here. We're at our, uh, we're at our house and we're sitting up here and there's these fields, there's fields everywhere of lava, like lava. You, the stuff grows on top of lava. There's lava everywhere. The island was made from the lava, but the crazy part is here's pigs. These are boars like crazy pigs all over the place. Like it's still, it's just a weird thing coming from Colorado, right? Gear and elk and, and, uh, you know, uh, mountain lions and, you know, there are these horses and crazy animals, but it's like, it's like a cartoon. I mean, it's, it's something you've seen out of a book or something. And it just, it's not something you're normally seeing. And all of a sudden you'll drive by a property and there's pigs sitting in their driveway, like standing there. And it boars, I guess they call them boars. There are little boars. I mean, we didn't see giant ones. They were pretty small. Um, but it's that's, it's just crazy to me. I mean, uh, it's wild. So, I mean, so if you guys want just that adventure itself of driving around, seeing the animals and then the birds, crazy birds, yellow birds, white birds, like there's some little parrots birds here. I mean, and they're always chirping and making noise, but it's so peaceful. The end of the day. Oh, there's doves everywhere too. Thousands of doves, but they sit on the ground. Like beautiful trees everywhere. And these doves will just 20 or 30 of them will sit on the ground. It's really weird. So don't know why, you know, and we try to ask people, uh, but super neat, super neat. Those, those are, if you come to Hawaii, uh, you know, my first time ever coming to Hawaii, we went to Maui and, uh, we went to a Walmart and this is a funny story. I, we got to, we went to get some food out of Walmart and we pull in the parking lot and I said, Oh my God, a chicken truck had to like, you know, flip over. Like there were chickens on cars. There's chickens running underneath. Like it was crazy. So we get to our condo in Maui and, um, I look out the back door and me and my wife are like, did you just see chickens run by? We did, but they're really like chickens on Maui island are, are like crazy. Like we didn't see goats there with this. This island has a little more active, crazy stuff here, but the chickens are nuts. So it's just not, you're not used to it. Right. I mean, there's roosters, there's chickens and they're making the noise in the morning. You know, they're got to doodle doodling. Yeah. You know? Yeah. I bet. I mean, it sounds like such a nice time. I'm sorry that you had the weather not so nice and you can do a lot of pickleball, but, um, you went there for a good purpose. She wanted to play pickleball and you had your anniversary. So that was, you know, you needed that time off. You know, I want a place to get your brain back and just get away. Hawaii is a great place for that. I mean, you just don't have a connect. You're connected to the world, but you're disconnected at the same time. You're in a, and being four hours difference from Colorado, it makes, it's weird. Every time we want to call our kids and it's six o'clock at night, it's almost midnight there where you guys are. And so we're like, Oh, we can't call there. You know, where I get up in the morning I call you and it's only seven o'clock here and it's almost your lunchtime there. You know, it's like crazy. I was trying to be good. I was trying to not call you and bug you guys. Um, no, we appreciate it. We, uh, it's just a really laid back place. I mean, people are very good. Food's very good. We've had it's now. Now the weirdest part is, is they love rice here. So everything you eat comes with rice. I had eggs Benedict with rice, which was different. Um, they have one of their Island specials and I have a special name for it, but it's basically rice, uh, uh, a hamburger patty and egg on top of that with some onions smothered in gravy. Now that sounds a little crazy. No bread. No, no, no. They're not, they have bread here. They got really good, but, uh, just over rice. And, um, it's very, it's one of their dishes that they're famous for here. And then, uh, it's super good. Really good. Like it doesn't sound, it sounds a little like, Oh, you know, what is that an egg on and everything, but it's actually very tasty. So, uh, you feel healthy here too. Like with all the rice, with everything you eat with rice, I don't know why it makes you feel like you're doing something good, but, uh, every meal you have rice here and like there's breakfast as well. You don't have fish. So they have like an eggs Benedict that comes with fish and rice. And so they mix foods. It's they also mix a lot of foods. It's kind of like a mix of, uh, Chinese food, American food and their traditional food. So it's crazy. Yeah. That sounds good. That sounds yummy. A lot of fish and stuff. I don't like like all the fish, but I do like fish. All the fish. We had coconut shrimp yesterday as a dive for, Oh my gosh. Yeah. They were so good. How about Coke? Do they have that? They don't have that. I don't think you eat those little suckers. They would scream at you. Well, you know, I was just looking on it and there was something that said that the Koki frog removed from Kauai. Um, so they're not usually in Kauai, but one of them got on a car and went there and then they heard the noise and they were able to find them and, uh, kick them out, I guess, kick them out of the island. They're actually evasive species here. They don't, they don't, I don't think they like them here. They do. I think they cause problems. Uh, but they're crazy. They're all around you. You're not, you don't know how they were getting rid of them. I mean, there must be a, there must be a thousand around right out of the home we're at. Yeah. I mean, they just start singing. It sounds like a little opera of them going, you know, and then you sing and then everybody sings and. Oh yeah. I was out there talking to them and it was funny. She was laughing. Mama was laughing at me cause I was out there whistling and then they start whistling and they make different noises and I would make different noises. You do make different noises. I just made a noise. So, so anyway, you're going, you're coming home tonight. We're coming home tonight. I mean, we're coming home. It's travel is long. We're losing the time. We fly out at three o'clock tonight or we get to the airport at three and we leave at seven. And then we don't see the airport because of the four hour time change until seven in the morning. Yeah. So it's a long night. I mean, we did it on purpose. I mean, Oh, to sleep on the plane and then back to the grind. Right. Yeah. You know, I mean, the only thing I don't, I miss is our dryness. You know, you get so used to our climate and here it's so wet. Everything is wet. Because it rains so much. It's wet, wet. Everything's wet. Like you, you take a shower and your towel is not going to dry. But like I said, I was super sad that I didn't, I didn't get to do some pickleball. I was super sad. Well, I guess what we're going to think that what that means is we're going to have to. So we'll have to go there. We'll have to play some pickleball and you were thinking maybe November. So maybe that will be a great, before Christmas kind of event that we go there and kind of talk about all the pickleball places. Well, and I like to talk to the, we're going to definitely talk to the Hilton and the Amberness in Colorado where I'm the pro there for the Hilton and teach. And we've been doing that for a couple of years. See if we could start doing some more pickleball with the Hilton's too. So we'll see if we could get a really big thing going with Hilton and then come back here with IMS trade, stay at one of their beautiful facilities and just have a great time. And it'd be nice to have you and your husband and us have a great time and play some pickleball. Yeah, that'd be great. Well, so we got lots coming up. We got a lot of people that were going to be interviewing for the podcast. We're kind of expanding to people outside of the state. So you'll be hearing a lot about different areas, you know, different States, which I think is going to be really good. You have any input there on that, Mike? Yeah. Yeah. I think that we, you know, we started locally in Colorado and for us, that's just our home. And it was just easy and pickleball. So crazy there. Like when you say Colorado pickleball, we have 20 facilities and we have courts, indoor courts, either indoor, not counting out. That's just indoor courts. And we have Podell courts that are indoors and outdoor. And then our outside courts are just as crazy. They're every in every County, every city, there's outdoor courts and then not counting our rec centers. So pick a ball and a hole in Colorado is very large for my standards of being different places. Now traveling for pickleball pickleball in Colorado is very, it's, it's that it's solid in Colorado. Yeah. So, I mean, you want to play there somewhere to play anytime of the day, anywhere in Colorado. So, I mean, but for us, we got really into, since we are Coloradans and that's where we learned to play pickleball and we got involved in pickleball. I that's where we set our roots, but our roots are ready to start growing outside of the Colorado. We're going to start to travel. You know, there's the, there's stuff like the USA open that we're talking about going to that's in Florida. We got definitely going to talk about going to the nationals. There's stuff with our, our, our power partners, the Denver Iconics that we're going to travel to some of their pro events and things that they're doing. But there's lots of good stuff coming. I mean, you're only going to hear more and better things. I think you're going to hear a little more structure in our side is give you guys a little bit more details on some of the, now that we've learned who some of the people lead, people are in pickleball give you some more good stuff that's happening. And, you know, maybe what's happening in tournaments and maybe what's happening in health wise. And then, you know, what, what's the funniest thing, you know, I like to laugh. And so you might hear some funny things about some pickleball. So, but it's still our good old show. We're still about the everyday Joes. Yeah. And we talked to the pros. I mean, you know, at the beginning of this, we were talking about like, we only talk about the everyday Joes. Well, we found out that the pros are the ones they became pros by being everyday Joes. Right. At the end of the day, they didn't just wake up and say, Hey, I'm going to be a pickleball pro today. They didn't do that. They had to start somewhere and now there's a, there's a level for everybody. Right. Yeah. I mean, I was just reading on, you know, crazy statistics of, of millions of youngsters from, you know, 10 years old to 18 year old that are playing pickleball. Like the young age is just like, yeah, they're coming. I mean, they're coming and they're, they're getting good and quick and fast. And so these are our new pros that are going to be coming up. And then our Denver Iconics, our senior pros, you guys, you know, don't underestimate them. And these people are very good five Oh plus, right. And they are very good players. And they got a 40 plus a 50 plus and a 60 plus now for 2026. And then they their new league is Colorado series pickleball. So a lot to come for them, but yeah, we got in, you know what, if anybody, like if you want to hear something and you want us to do any kind of investigation on courts or, you know, or places stay, please go to our site and DM us or email us would be great. I got 500, I got 500 pickleball people in my phone. So if I don't have somebody I can call and find that information out for you, I'm in trouble because I talk to a lot of pickleball people. So if you do need something, definitely call us because we probably know how to connect you or get you connected. Or, you know, if you want to become a pro or you want to find out where the next day, what's coming or where something you want to go to one of these there's tons of cool pros that come in and do a bunch of clinics. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're, they're awesome. I mean, we just were one with, what was his, we just did the one. Yeah. What an incredible guy. What a great class. I mean, what a great, if you guys get to go to a Zane's class, I mean top five in the world. I mean, and he's, he's just, he's down to earth. So what a great guy, you know, but other than that, yeah, you're right. There's lots of good stuff coming. We're only going to grow, you know, we're in the top 100 right now. We hope to be in the top 10 by the end of the year. That's our real goal. And the only way we do that is by you listeners following us and keeping, keep making us, you know, making us that. Cause we can only do, we only get, we only grow if you make us grow. So we sure appreciate all the people that have taken us to top 100 and we're at, we're over, you know, 60 episodes now. So, I mean, which is, that's a feat in itself. I mean, me and you both did not, you know, podcasting seemed like it was going to be this easy thing to do. And there's a lot of work that goes into it. And especially on your end, you know, you do a lot of our editing and stuff and you, it's a lot of work. And so I thank you for putting our show together. Well, thank you for having the whole idea and bringing this to everybody without you thinking about it when it happens. I guess at the end of the day, I just felt like people, the regular people that play pickleball don't know how much stuff's going on in pickleball. Like here, who would think of Hawaii playing pickleball, right? I mean, you know, there's just, and it's all different. It's a, it's a different climate. It's a different way you play. It's all outside. Here's outside. It's beautiful here. You're 70 to 80 degrees every day here. I mean, you're not going to probably have a lot of indoor courts. There will be a couple, but they're not going to be a lot of them. They're going to be 90% of your courts are going to be outside. No. And I think we're going to be excited to go around and travel in different states and kind of tell you what our opinion is. And it'll be fun. I think we're going to have a really fun year. We'll try to tell you, we'll try to tell you like, if we, you know, we stay somewhere, if it has good food, if it's a good place around us, I mean, you know, yeah. So we'll be a couple other places this year that we'll go to. And then we'll be talking to other, other podcasters and people in the, in our world and bringing them in. We're going to bring experts in that are especially in, in, in fitness and nutrition and, and hydration. You know, we, we'll, we'll as people, we're, we're not the experts, but we're going to bring those people around you that if you want more information or that's, that's, that's there for you, supplements that are good for you. I mean, you know, and, and even some of the products that new products are coming out, there's some crazy stuff coming out there, guys. There's paddles that are starting to become like your phone. It's going to connect to your phone. It's going to tell you how many swing is it going to tell you what you do. It's going to tell you when to eat. It's going to tell you dehydrated. It's going to have your heart beat. Isn't that usually your spouse, mine? I joking. That was not for you. That's why I said spouse. Yeah. Well, yeah, there is in the watch thing, the pickle watch and all that. So we got, it's going to be crazy how much we're going to expand with all kinds of products and ideas. There is, it is absolutely. And that's all we can do. And, but we need our listeners to help us to let us know that if they're liking the show or if there's other things they want to hear about or something they want to find out about, let it, please call us. We probably have a phone. We can make a phone call and get that person on the show. We can probably break, you know, give you the answers to that. You know, it's awesome. I mean, I, if you guys just listened to one of the last one, it was the last one or the one before it was stretched stone stretching. I mean, yeah, we, we know that we all don't stretch when we are going out. Well, the stretches are funny. One, two, three, I'm out. Right. One, two, three. That's good. I must be ready. You know, and then we hit that ball like we always do. That's our warmup is hitting a little dinking ball, dinking back and forth. And then we go into play and go 100 miles an hour. That's not, that's not warming up, you know, and that's why there's so many injuries and we're trying to find out ways that we can make this better for our listeners and us. And I'm just as guilty. I am the first one to be on that court because I want to be the first one out there to play. I am just as guilty as everybody else. This pickleball does something to your brain. Yeah. It's addiction and it just makes you go against all the things, you know, you should not do. How about the balls that you go for? You know why I haven't heard me. I had to try to get the one that came to the net and I shoved my foot down hard and twisted, but I got that ball. And then I couldn't play for almost a month. That's why there's holes in some of the walls too. If you notice that there's, oh yeah, you, you are always seeing holes. It's funny. And now people are putting their names on them. It's too funny because it's broken. They got to fix it anyway. But there was one that I play at a rec center. It's in a Westminster and a guy named Andrew, he had his name on there because he went through the wall, huge hole. But that's how crazy we are. We just, that ball takes our brain somewhere else. Like we no longer, there's no boundaries for getting hurt or whatever. As long as I hit that stupid ball, I'm okay. You know? Definitely. So how about you? Are you getting out anywhere? I mean, no, I haven't actually, I haven't felt the best. So this last couple of days, I've been just trying to do a lot of computer work, trying to figure out things on my computer with our drinks and different things. And for the pickleball, pickleball is next door. And also the on-court networking, you know, we're, we're building that. So that's kind of a fun, right? We have that tomorrow. Yeah, we are. That's tomorrow. I feel bad tomorrow, but we are supporting small businesses and the clubs. So one of the things that you'll see us doing is, you know, with this economy right now, it's pretty tough. I think a lot of people in business and anywhere are just struggling, knowing not what to do with our money and how to keep it going, you know? And we got used to it being so for Colorado, Colorado is exploding, right? And now all of a sudden everything is just like slowed way down. And, but the economy, you know, it hasn't gotten cheaper to live there. It's gotten more expensive. So we're trying to help small businesses and these clubs, these are million dollar clubs, guys. I mean, everybody gets mad about the people get mad about the fees, but once you are in the pickleball world and realize what it costs for them to give you this beautiful facility, yeah, guys, it's a lot more than, you know, it takes them a lot to regain that money back. And it only takes, you know, so, and, and, and the way we, the way I've always looked at this is, yeah, you can go to a rec center and pay five bucks. You're only paying five more bucks to come with some friends. So most courts are about $40 an hour. You're paying $10 an hour, you know, and a big play in a facility. These are gorgeous. With great lighting. Great. Oh my God. There's air condition. There's bathrooms, you know, I mean, some of them even have like gyms in them and stretching areas and they're creaking, creaking showers. There's a lot of showers in so that you can take a shower. You know, I know the picklers are really big with that. You can go there and play and get sweaty and go take a quick shower and you're on your way to work. Exactly. So, but like I said, there's, those are all good things, but we support all that. We support all that. So we found a way to work with facilities to get more business people to the facility and make, we're making more pickleballers guys. We're bringing people that, you know, are so busy in business that don't think they have time for pickleball. And now to be in our on-court and our on-court networking, you have to play, you gotta play some pickleball. And you don't even have to know how to play pickleball because you will learn. You're going to learn. We got me and other people that are teaching and then we have some experts that help with different, you know, big networking groups that are helping build the side of the business so that we're getting leads for people. We're supporting small businesses and we're supporting our club. And that's really what it was about. It wasn't about us making some big amount of money. This was just about another way that we could serve the community of pickleball and small businesses. So I think that's where we were when we came up with this idea, that's where we came up with it. It wasn't to go, Oh, look at this. We're going to be rich. No, it's a lot of work guys. It's like herding kittens. I mean, everybody's too busy. Yeah. Oh yeah. And it's new, right? Business people are like, what? You want me to go do pickleball and do business? How's that work? You know, come and see guys. Yeah. It's worth a try at a time. We're just trying to get, you know, build it up. Wish we could do all of them at one time, but as time goes, we will be doing all of them. There should be a 10 to 20 of them here in the next two years. And I think you guys will love it. I think you're going to love it. And it's going to the, what we've already had experience of people coming is they were, came in tired seven 30 in the morning. And they're like, what? They hit some pickle balls. They got in the room and they were just amped up. They got that energy. They want to talk. They're ready to go compared to most. I'm not putting any, you know, networking down. I did it for me, built my businesses for many years, but at the end of the day, I, I was very boring, you know, same place, same people, same thing. The pickleball part of this is just giving you another way to do business, but also have a little fun to get to go and get a little, get a pet, a little pep in your step. Right. Yeah. And I hate to say this about small businesses and you know, this Chrisana being a business owner, we don't take breaks. We don't take breaks. We don't eat good food all the time. We work extreme hours. We're always stressed. And this is a way that we can take a little of that from you and still, but you get us, you get to still go do business. Right. You're still somehow working to get more business. And by doing this with playing pickleball, it just really helps to get your mind in a zone that you're having fun. And then, then the networking and meeting people is such a great community. So, but by, by pickleballing with those people, you, it opens up the door instead of you just being your, your 32nd commercial, you're actually on a court building community with other businesses. You're doing something active with them. You're really getting to know them. It takes you to a different level of business. And I think people that we will have some testimonies here shortly of people that are going, that just the energy. And when they leave are so jazzed up, you know, and it just made, it made our heart happy because we were just like, this is right. This is what we need to do. And we're doing, we're giving back to both sides. And I think that's what our, what our, our, our calling was is to help others other people, you know, and this in this pickleball podcast. And if you guys want to know more about the on-court networking, you guys can email us too, or DM us on any of the Instagrams and we will get you involved. Yeah. Why don't you give them those, our Instagram and our, and our, our stuff so that people can. So our website is pickleballerswithanessnextdoor.com. And if you want to email us, do info at pickleballersnextdoor.com. And then we are on Instagram and Tik TOK, which is at pickleballersnextdoor. And then if you want to look at on-court networking, we're just building it that we do have a site called oncourtnetworking.com, but I would say just DM us or email us at pickleballersnextdoor.com. That's a lot of words. And we will give you the, we'll get you guys the information, the QR codes. Yeah. I think the hardest one people do, that always asks me is they don't find us is they don't put pickleballers with the S. With the S. Pickleballers. Pickleballer, but they need to put that S and I found, you know, even myself, I'll type really fast. I'm like, gosh, darn it. I forgot the S. Or the ads or takes it away or something. Right. Yeah. So, well, great. I thank you so much, Kris Anna, for, you know, getting this podcast together today. And I know we're two different places in the world right now, but you're going to be here. I'm hoping soon. That's what you want to do. Hey, are you home? Hey, I'm in Hawaii. Hey, I'm just going to do it together. Yes. All of us. We are. We are. We use where you're, you add stuff that you already have engaged with. I mean, you own, I mean, you own a, you have a business, you know, besides, you know, we both own other businesses. I mean, this, this, that's what's the hard part is the work to put into this and to still run our other businesses. The crazy part is a podcast is a full-time to get, to get a podcast every week, to interview, talk to people, to produce it. It's a full-time job job. It's not like it just do we wake up and little elves have made it for us. It's a full-time job. Someday AI might do that for us. Well, that might be our little elves. It does help us, but you know, it still takes, it still takes us to, to, to put the show together. Oh yes. So I want to do a shout out to all our listeners and all our, all our power partners, our sponsors. I thank you all. I keep sponsoring and following us. You're going to, you're going to hear some changes coming. And I think those changes, we've grown into pick a ball podcast. So you, we have learned, we've learned by being out here, what people want and what they don't want. And so we're hoping that we can bring more of that to you, what you want, not what you don't want.
